Can you smell the excitement in the air? Can you feel the adrenaline beginning to course through your veins? Tomorrow isn’t any ordinary Friday, it’s the kick-off of the Interactive portion of this year’s South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas.
There are going to be big announcements, major surprises, and breaking news stories around every corner, but some people didn’t want to wait. Curtis James Jackson III, better known as 50 Cent, has already announced that he will be playing a concert on the evening of March 11 at the 1100 Warehouse.
But what makes this concert so special is that 50 Cent has added a major dose of tech startup swag; he’ll be live-streaming the show via the Hang w/ mobile app. He’s an investor in the app, which is one reason he wants to steam the show, but he also wants as many people as possible to enjoy his music.
“I’m excited to give the opportunity to those who couldn’t make it a chance to experience a concert at SXSW,” said 50 Cent in a statement.
Hang w/ specializes is letting celebrities broadcast their lives and activities to their loyal fans, and it’s already recorded around 1 million downloads since its initial launch in March 2013. Any user who is following 50 Cent will get a push notification the minute he starts the live broadcast, and they can join in the fun.
This concert is the perfect way for any SXSW-er to wind down the Interactive portion of the festival while ramping up for the major music portion. And if you don’t have it in you to sit through a concert, just watch it from your room on the Hang w/ app.
