Looking To Change The World But Don’t Know How? Bold Academy Aims To Help

Apr 5, 2012

Bold Academy

Looking to change the world but don’t know how to even get started? The Boulder, Colorado-based Bold Academy is a program for people just like you. It was founded by the team of Amber Rae and Nathaniel Koloc.

What exactly will the academy teach you?

The program curriculum will include a series of expert-led workshops, skill-building sessions, and learn-by-doing experiences that fall into the following categories:

  • Self-awareness. Knowing yourself, your purpose, what to be true to, and when you’re at your best.
  • Integrity. Behaving in a way that is consistent with your true self.
  • Confidence. Overcoming societal expectations and being powerful and compassionate in who you really are.
  • Risk-taking. Fluency in failure, experimentation, and iteration as the path to success.
  • Resourcefulness. The ability to generate passion, money, resources, and manpower around an idea, cause, or project.
  • Strategy. Knowing how to draw clarity from chaos and make plans that work.

All of the workshops will follow a hands-on approach. The aim is to create participatory experiences that will be framed, undertaken, and then debriefed as a group.

Co-founder Amber Rae shared her vision for Bold Academy:

“I want every single person who attends to experience the almost indescribable feeling of being alive, knowing that you’re doing the work you’re meant to be doing, and contributing to our world in a positive way. What takes some people years, or even a lifetime to reach, we’re going to make happen in four weeks.”

Throughout July in Boulder, attendees will learn from a host of different mentors with experience at NBC, TED, Apple, and E! (including Seth Godin). The first class will only be 24 participants and the application deadline is April 5th at midnight PST. The Bold Academy will select 50 finalists by April 9th, and then the first 24 to submit their tuition of $7,500 will be in the first class.

If $7,500 seems steep for your budget, you will be happy to hear it includes all programming/workshops/speakers, housing (you’ll be living together in the “Bold Mansion”), healthy food, all transportation in Boulder, access to a personal trainer/nutritionist, access to a career coach, as well as numerous activities and adventures like cooking classes, dance lessons, yoga sessions, camping, and a few other surprises. If you still need help with the tuition, the Bold Academy will be offering a fundraising platform.

As we continue to realize that experiences are more and more valuable and important pieces when it comes to happiness, it’s no surprise to see a program like the Bold Academy launch. So if you’re available in July and looking to take on an experience that could prepare you for a journey to change the world, you might want to apply for the first-ever Bold Academy.
