Earlier this year, the Challenge Cup ventured to London, England to find the hottest startups tackling some of the world’s the biggest problems. Dozens of startups in the sectors of education, energy, health, and smart cities gave short pitches to an esteemed panel at Hub Westminister. Four would emerge the winners of their category, and with it, invitation to the final round of the Challenge Cup held in DC, where the grand prize winner will take home $150,000.
The winners from the event are below.
Fluency – Youth microwork marketplace; connects young people aged 18 to 25 with skills in web, social media and digital marketing to tackle work that business is not equipped to handle in-house.
Open Utility – marketplace that enables consumers to buy energy directly from producers, giving a fairer price for everyone.
Touch Surgery - Surgical simulation on mobile devices; scientific methodology is used to teach surgical procedures in step by step fashion, improving surgical decision making and critical thinking.
SocioTransit – social networking service that matches people seeking traveller/ transporter to carry/ buy/ pick-up & drop any kind of goods from one place to another.
