With the tag line “Build Your Business, Not Your Billing System”, Chargify’s mission is to simplify recurring billing for SaaS and Web 2.0 companies, allowing them to grow their business more quickly. Much more than a simple payment system, the product allows businesses to access customer insights, revenue, signups, and cancellation trends from a real-time dashboard. In addition to processing one-time and recurring transactions, Chargify handles free trial periods, one-time fees, promotions, refunds, email receipts and even dunning (reminders for failed credit card payments).
Chargify offers a free monthly service for up to 50 customers and then tiered pricing plans based on number of customers being billed. As for integration, the easiest option is to link the website to a custom branded payment page allowing customers to sign up for your product or service. The second option for the more technically inclined is to integrate with their RESTful API, which allows for a more seamless integration.
The company was born out of Boston-based Grasshopper Group, who got their start with Grasshopper.com, the virtual phone system for entrepreneurs. The founders are David Hauser, Siamak Taghaddos, and Lance Walley. Lance was a co-founder and CEO of Rails Hosting company Engine Yard, while David and Siamak are the founders of Grasshopper.com.
Come see how Chargify can help your business as they will be on hand as a showcased startup at the Tech Cocktail Boston startup mixer this Thursday at the Microsoft NERD Center in Cambridge.
