Starting today, the San Francisco startup lets you search advisers by name and topic – like marketing or VC funding – and see statistics on their number of calls completed, average call length, and expected response time. You can also send messages to advisers to work out the logistics of your call.
In the three months since launch, Clarity advisers have taken over 10,000 calls averaging 15 minutes long – that’s over 104 days of straight-up mentoring. The most popular topics have to do with making money: fundraising, marketing and sales, and legal (to save the lawyer fees).
Founder Dan Martell took over 450 calls himself, many of them from entrepreneurs at the end of their rope – money drying up, number of users sputtering along, morale nosediving. And he knows just what to say.
“Just telling them (and I swear it’s all you gotta say), ‘That’s very normal and it’s going to be okay’ can change somebody’s day,” says Martell. “To me, those are the best calls: letting them know that what they’re going through is part of the journey.”
