Although the SXSW Interactive Conference is still several months off, the crafting and creation of content for the event is underway right now. The conference utilizes crowdsourcing both to cull ideas for panels and to vote up great ideas. This community-building process is called the PanelPicker.
After submitting a panel for review, a presenter’s next step is to rally a following who will go online to vote for the panel and even comment on how this panel would improve their experience at the conference. In Las Vegas, community members post and share links to the panels that their peers have submitted in hopes of having a great local showing in Austin next spring. This is a great way to get to know the other movers, shakers, and “DOers” in your community. We’re going to be sharing other ways that communities support each other at the Tech Cocktail Celebrate conference, so we hope you will join us there.

City As A Startup
This panel, led by VegasTechFund’s Andy White, looks to identify the key elements in the City as a Startup, how to make it happen in your community, what role government plays, and what obstacles can block this type of progress.
Conflict in the Startup Marriage
This idea, presented by developer and founder George Diab, reminds early teams to understand that the development team needs to be nurtured in a way that a sales focus cannot always provide, and aims to assist non-technical founders in discerning outside advice where development is concerned.
Make Friends, Not Contacts
This is a chat between Wedgies co-founders and all-around sincere and awesome guys, Jimmy Jacobson and Porter Haney. They’d like to share with the audience how to create a deep relationship with someone you’ve just met, the benefits of giving before taking, and building a network for both the good times and the bad.
Miami also has something to offer in terms of a panel that looks to help leaders build community.
8 Years To Overnight Success
Community leaders Brian Breslin and Peter Martinez of Refresh Miami will share their experiences growing the tech community in Miami. Rallying the community together and building a community without financial resources to grow into a self-sustaining community are the focus of this panel.

This session presents a new strategy for creative problem solving for brands to increase marketing value and improve reach and engagement. Kathryn Worthington will demonstrate an authentic method for uncovering the gap between consumer perceptions and behaviors.
