Get the Latest in Footwear Technology with DAMPS Boots

Dec 9, 2011

DAMPS

Technology is everywhere.  Nowhere is this more apparent than the recent level of advancements in our shoes.  Yes, shoes.

Whether it be the rise in popularity of Vibram FiveFingers, Reebok’s new ZigZag technology, or the increasing trend toward hiking huaraches, the competition for more ergonomically correct footwear is at an all time high.

One player in this game, DAMPS boots, may have slid under your radar.  If the claims the company makes are true, however, you may need to take notice.

“Patented DAMPS Technology Footwear utilizes opposing super magnets in the heel of footwear to reduce dynamic kinetic motion shock by 68%” according to company founder Jeff Brown. Conventional outsole brands reduce shock by only 10% and lose their effectiveness rapidly as heat takes its toll on the material.

Through using opposing super magnets, DAMPS lessens the strain that comes from repetitive impact.  This is no small feat, as Plantar Fascitiis (AKA heel strike injury) is the most common injury seen by podiatrists.  Also, consider that lower back problems, known to be the result of improper footwear, is the number two cause for missed time by employees.  For workers who spend a significant amount of time on their feet, this radical technology may make all the difference.  Brown adds that DAMPS users, ”are literally walking an a magnetic field created by the opposing super magnets 30 times more powerful than your average refrigerator magnets….only astronauts feel less gravity.”

DAMPS boots was one of last night’s showcased startups at the Tech Cocktail San Diego Mixer.  If you missed them at the event, definitely check out their website to learn more.

Off the subject of shoes.do you think time could be thought of as opposing magnets constantly pushing against each other with imaginary time spilling out of both side with real time trying to continue forward.are we waiting for the magnets of time to flip and ? U tell me

  3. I work at the Post Office standing on my feet all dang day, I've been looking for some kind of relief. I don't know if magnets in the sole will help me but I'm surely going to give it a try. I'll be ordering my Damps boots shortly, something has to help.
