DC’s Marketing Software Firm Vocus is Acquired for $446.5M

DC’s Vocus today announced it has agreed to be acquired for $446.5 million. Chicago-based GTCR is the buyer and will enjoy a premium of 48 percent on Vocus’ closing share price of $12.18.

“For our shareholders, this agreement provides an opportunity to realize cash value for their shares at a significant premium to historical share prices,” said Rick Rudman, CEO of Vocus in a press release. “For our employees and customers, we believe that joining forces with GTCR creates a significant opportunity to utilize each other’s strengths and move even faster toward our vision of creating innovative software and making our customers successful.”

The Beltsville, Maryland-based company provides a cloud-based marketing and public relations software that helps businesses acquire and retain customers. Vocus boasts more than 17,000 annual subscriptions across a wide variety of industries and has offices in North America, Europe, and Asia.
