Discount Legal Services for Startups from Chicago’s Saper Law

A new program in Chicago is offering basic legal services to startups at 50-75 percent discounts.
The Saper Law Immersion Program, started by Saper Law Offices in partnership with 1871 and Code Academy, matches new lawyers in need of training and experience with new startups in need of legal services like incorporation, trademark applications, and work-for-hire contracts. The new lawyers are supervised by attorneys from Saper Law, which is ultimately responsible for the work done.
According to Saper Law owner Daliah Saper, startups put themselves at risk by neglecting key legal steps like partnership agreements with cofounders, trademarks, and software licensing. Cash-strapped entrepreneurs often resort to downloading stock legal forms from the Internet or doing nothing at all – a recipe for conflicts and wasted time down the line.
So Saper Law wants to provide relief to early-stage startups, especially those without enough funding to hire a high-priced lawyer. “We’re looking for first-time business owners who need more handholding,” Saper says.
Most startups selected will be from 1871 or Code Academy, but others can apply here and get accepted as early as August 6.
Saper Law is a partner of Tech Cocktail.
