Domino’s Pizza today announced that they’ll be accepting payments for mobile food orders via Google Wallet. To make this even better, as a promotional gift Android users who pay with Google Wallet through June 15 will receive a free order of Domino’s new Specialty Chicken.
The crew at Domino’s wants to leverage this opportunity to add even more convenience for its customer experience with direct integration of the Google Wallet functionality into the Android app. Google Wallet itself is a totally free mobile payment system that lets you store debit, credit, and loyalty cards in your smartphone, and Android users will notice the new option to “Buy with Google” upon checkout.
“This is yet another way Domino’s is using technology to improve our customer experience,” said Patrick Doyle, Domino’s Pizza president and chief executive officer. “Google Wallet is a great technology that allows customers even more flexibility and convenience when it comes to paying for their Domino’s orders.”
High tech food ordering is a hot trend these days with companies like GrubHub performing so well. It’s a smart move on the part of Domino’s to further entrench themselves in the mobile ordering market, especially since Microsoft recently teamed up with Pizza Hut for pizza orders via Xbox Live.
The only real downside of this announcement is that iOS users seem to be left behind, for the time being, when it comes to mobile pizza orders.
