5 Ways Entrepreneurs Make Their Own Luck

So you want to be lucky? You want to have all the good things that lucky people have? The fast cars, the nice homes, a business of your own? We all want those, so I am going to do you a favor and tell you, yes you, how to be lucky. This is a once-in-a-lifetime offer, so listen closely. I am not going to repeat myself. Successful entrepreneurs make their own luck, so here are 5 ways you can create luck around you:

1. Make Friends.

First off, you need to make some friends. When you spend time around other successful people, good things can happen to you. You can get ideas. You can get advice. You can make connections. The more you network with other entrepreneurs, the more opportunities luck has to find her way to your doorstep. You might have to step out of your comfort zone, but in the long run, you will be glad you did.

2. Embrace bad luck.

Second, you need to stop worrying about our good friend bad luck. He’s a stinker but you can’t have the good without the bad. He’s going to knock you down from time to time. When he does, just get back up. It sounds tough but it really is that simple. Keep rolling those dice and a seven is going to show up sooner or later.

3. Do something.

Third, you need to get off your butt and start doing something. Lady Luck is nice but she ain’t going to make it too easy on you. That means sitting down and writing that business plan. That means drawing up those prototypes for your new product. The road to success is a long one and Lady Luck might give you a boost from time to time, but she ain’t going to start the car for you.

4. Mindfulness

Fourth, you need to open your mind. I don’t mean that you need to sit yogi-style on the floor and start chanting. I mean you need to be willing to try new things and listen to advice that might go against your ego. You’re pretty smart, but there are entrepreneurs out there who are smarter or who have more experience. They know what you’re going through ’cause they’ve already been there. Listen to them and when you get knocked down, you will know what to do.

5. Learning

Fifth, you gotta keep learning. You want to talk about luck? You live in an age where the entirety of the world’s knowledge and history is a mouse click away. You can sit on your couch and learn more in an afternoon about starting a business than previous generations could learn in a year.

If you’re starting to think that this sounds like an awful lot of work, you’re right. Luck is not only about being in the right place at the right time, it’s about being ready. Every day people all over the world are presented with amazing business opportunities that they are not prepared to handle. If you want to be one of them, just close this window and go back to doing nothing. If you want to be lucky, then it’s time to get to work. I showed you how to do it – the rest is up to you.
