GE, Local Motors Launch FirstBuild Micro-Factory in Louisville

General Electric, Local Motors and University of Louisville have joined forces to open the FirstBuild Micro-factory. The micro-factory will be a place for “online and local community members to design products and help solve engineering challenges that will fast-track community driven innovation to market.”

The opening of the FirstBuild Micro-Factory follows the announcement that GE partnered with Local Motors to launch a new model for the manufacturing industry, which emphasizes on co-creation and micro-manufacturing with a focus on speeding the time from mind to market.
