Groupflier Offers Free Group Texting For SXSW and Beyond

Group text messaging is a trend we mentioned as one to watch in 2011 and sure enough, Facebook validated that yesterday by acquiring group texting app Beluga. We think it’s going to be huge at SXSW this year, so we are excited to be working with DC-based startup Groupflier which we will use to share the latest events and updates happening at SXSW (eg, hot keynote reminders, Gary Vaynerchuk flash mob wine parties, Justin Bieber sightings, Delivering Happiness Bus pickup spots, etc). This service will share sms updates as well as offering a web interface.

With Groupflier you can create your mobile chat room via the iPhone app or the web interface. It takes about a minute to create a new account and be off and texting. I like that you can manage your account from the web and even post messages to the group.

We have setup a Tech Cocktail SXSW group where we’ll keep you posted on all the latest events, news and happenings as we cover SXSW (without bombarding you with messages – we’re sensitive to that too!).

To join our group simply do one of the following:

You can also create your own group to keep track of a smaller group of friends and colleagues.

Groupflier is founded by Morris Panner and has been initially funded with $500K by Novak Biddle Ventures. Morris Panner had this to say:

“We are social texting, texting is the perfect way to communicate one-to-one, but unless everyone is on the same service, you can’t communicate as a group.”

Panner is an experienced software entrepreneur who two years ago sold his last company, OpenAir, a business process software company, to NetSuite.

Groupflier will be at SXSW and is a sponsor of our 2400+ attendee Tech Cocktail SXSW presented by LiveShare by Cooliris event, so definitely stop by and talk with the team. Create a Groupflier group today or just follow our Tech Cocktail SXSW Groupflier group along the way.
