While telemedicine – consulting with doctors over the phone – is gaining some popularity lately, another innovation is taking us back to the roots of medical care.
Atlanta startup Medicast wants to bring doctors back into your home. Instead of sending a relative to fetch the doctor, as they did in centuries past, you can book an appointment online and see someone within two hours.
Rates start at $99 per visit, and doctors are available 24 hours a day. The service launches on April 1 in South Florida.
Medicast cofounder Sam Zebarjadi stopped by our SXSW Startup Celebration sponsored by CEA and .CO. He talked about how Medicast works, why it’s better than the “patient factory” approach, and how Atlanta’s startup scene is growing. Here’s the video.
