Jeff Lawson of Twilio: The Ups and Downs of Being a Developer [VIDEO]

“Software is eating the world,” says Jeff Lawson below, echoing Marc Andreessen of VC firm Andreessen Horowitz. What they mean is that software companies like Amazon and Netflix are starting to dominate industries that were formerly run by hardware giants.
Lawson, who worked at Amazon himself, is trying to do that in telecommunications. His startup Twilio is helping developers make apps that use phone calling and texting. According to Lawson, developers today have an exciting opportunity to disrupt markets, as long as they can navigate around established players.
Tech Cocktail caught up with Lawson, who was also the CTO of StubHub, to hear about the challenges and opportunities for software developers. Watch the full video with Jeff Lawson.
