Jessica Jensen of Microsoft: Do What You Think Is Cool and Compelling

Mar 19, 2012

Jessica Jensen

Managing marketing and social media is not easy, even with the resources of a large company.  Jessica Jensen, Senior Marketing Manager at Microsoft, stopped by our SXSW #StartupLife Celebration Saturday to talk about the challenges of marketing in today’s day and age when there’s so much noise to break through.

As you’ll see in the video below, she talks about why humanity and responsiveness are so important in social media, why niche social media platforms are the wave of the future, and why it’s so important to take risks no matter how small or large your company is. Watch the video featuring Jessica Jensen of Microsoft.

You can find more of our coverage of the #StartupLife at SXSW here.

  1. I liked the point about social media providing a great place for large brands (or any brands, for that matter) to test and try new things. If brands were able to take those risks with traditional ad campaigns where they spent 100 times more than they spend on social media buys, then they should be OK with doing so in social media.
