The Toronto based company MadWhips recently launched the an automotive photography focused social network in an effort to establish themselves as the 500px of the automotive industry. To that end, they have built a new website and iOS app to allow auto enthusiasts to share, collect, and discuss the world’s hottest cars all from one place.
“Our integration between web and mobile is a result of collecting 7 years of photos and user data and designing a simple and intuitive collaborative environment,” says Anthony Carbone, CEO of MadWhips.
To date MadWhips has accrued over 1 million Instagram followers, over 150,000 Facebook fans, and around 12,000 Twitter followers. The niche social network has remained popular due in part to their mission to remain focused on showcasing the world’s hottest cars. Both professional and amateur car enthusiasts and photographers can upload their content to MadWhips and share it across various other channels.
“The engagement among our followers on social networks, particularly Instagram and Facebook, shows that there’s a big demand for our content. We’re gaining over 25,000 new followers a week,” says Carbone.
