Melinda Wittstock of NewsiT – “I Joke That I Am Unemployable Now”
Mar 18, 2012 Tweet
Melinda Wittstock knows news. She is the Founder and CEO of NewsiT, a mobile crowd-reporting platform, founder of the award-winning Capitol News Connection, and a former journalist.
She is also quite the entrepreneur. Two years ago, NewsiT won the WeMedia Pitchit! Challenge, and despite the fact that people say think the news is dead – it is actually a billion dollar industry – NewsiT will be closing its second round of funding soon.
Because Wittstock has had her hands in so many areas of the startup process twice, she jokes that she is unemployable – and she’s probably right. As she shares in the video below from our SXSW #StartupLife Celebration last weekend, founding a company requires determination and drive, learning when to listen and when to pivot, why the lean startup model was the way to go at NewsiT.
