myRete, Makers of WhosHere, Close on Round of Funding from Lightbank

Virginia-based myRete, the makers of WhosHere®, announced late yesterday that they closed on their first round of funding led by Chicago-based Lightbank, the technology investment fund created by Groupon co-founders Eric Lefkofsky and Brad Keywell.
If you’re not familiar with WhosHere, it is a location-based social networking app for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. It allows you to send free text and image messages and make free VoIP calls to people nearby with whom you have something in common.
They have more than 4 million registered users who have sent 2 billion+ messages, and, it is important to note, they are already profitable.
