OneGoodLove Brings a Highly-Tailored Online Dating Site to the Gay Community

Whether you are gay or straight, the dating scene can veer from ridiculous to scary.  Everyone has a horror story to share, that’s for sure.

While I am as straight as they come, I have heard firsthand from gay friends about the sometimes truly strange world of dating in the gay community.  Compounded by the fact that mainstream dating sites do not do anything differently for the gay and lesbian community, while “hook-up” services and other gay “dating” sites totally miss those looking for long-term, wholesome relationships, and the online dating scene has fallen short – until now.

LA-based OneGoodLove was founded by Frank Mastronuzzi to fill that gap.  He decided to take his online business development and customer acquisition experience with online subscription businesses including Match.com, AmericanGreetings.com and Reunion/MyLife.com to launch the site last year.  When I asked Frank why he wanted to take on the challenge of filling this large gap, he replied,

I personally was tired of trying to find a long-term partner myself (while working at Match.com) and being forced to use sites that fit like a bad pair of shoes. I wanted to build a site that fit the community like Cinderella’s glass slipper and was not an merely an afterthought by a mainstream dating site.  And after all, I am the target market for OneGoodLove, and I hope to meet my own ‘last call of the day’ on OneGoodLove.com.

The OneGoodLove brand focuses on matching people interested in long-term relationships.  What really sets the company apart, though, is their proprietary personality profile test that was specifically crafte for the market by a (gay) PhD who also happened to create successful personality tests for Match.com and YahooPersonals.
