If you have ever made one frustrating phone call after another to plumbers, or house cleaners, or wedding photographers, trying desperately to find someone with reasonable prices, Chicago-based startup OpenChime is just what you need.
Their online platform enables consumers to request price quotes from service providers of a host of services, thus making your life a lot easier. Here’s how it works: you submit a request via an online form, and the message is sent to relevant local businesses. Once quotes have been submitted, they are emailed to you in one message. (Yes, businesses can request to be added to the company’s roster.)
In a sign that this startup is a keeper, OpenChime announced that they raised $700,000 in a round of funding from Lightbank, a Chicago VC firm that also invested in Groupon.
OpenChime’s service is available around the country, so check them out the next time you need your roof repaired, car fixed, or party catered.
