500 Startups Announces The 29 Batch 9 Accelerator Participants

500 Startups yesterday announced the companies that will be participating in Batch 9 of their accelerator program. The startups will be working out of 500 Startups’ Mountain View headquarters, and there will be two new entrepreneurs in residence, Poornima Vijayashanker and Malcolm Ong, to mentor and guide them toward success.

The candidate pool is diverse with international startups coming out of the Czech Republic, Switzerland, China, India, Canada, Malaysia, Brazil, Australia, the UK, and Mexico. There will also be a solid share of US representation with startups from New York City, Rochester, Stanford, Oakland, San Jose, San Francisco, Mountain View, and Berkeley.

The bottom line is that Batch 9 is a big one for 500 Startups. Of the 29 companies, 11 of them have at least one woman on the founding team, which is big news when you consider that 500 Startups recently launched an AngelList syndicate, 500 Women, with the express mission to empower women investors and founders.

Batch 9 is shaping up to be a fun one, packed full of diversity, ideas, and individuals.
