Tech startup giant, Uber, announced that operation in Broward County would be ceased as of July 31st. This announcement came in response to new regulation put in place by the Broward County Commission that would classify ride sharing companies like Uber the same as traditional taxi companies. With this announcement, Uber decided to step out of Broward County altogether, however, they aren’t leaving without a fight. And Uber won’t be the one throwing the punches.

Instead, Uber has asked for residents and visitors to Broward County to show their support of Uber by signing a petition. With almost 75K signatures, Uber must be doing something right in Broward and users want it to stay. Learn more about the Petition to Amend the Ridesharing Ordinance.

According to the Miami Herald, Lyft will also discontinue operations in the area. Both services, though, will continue to operate in nearby Miami-Dade county.
