Slideshows Go Social at Slide.ly

Online photo albums are so 2011.  Social slideshows that let you share photos backed by music are very 2012.

Bringing us into this year is Slide.ly, an instant slideshow creation tool that lets you take photos from all the popular sites like Facebook, Instagram, Flickr, Picplz and Picasa, mix them together with music from YouTube and SoundCloud, and then add effects to make a really fun slideshow about anything you love.

Yes, it’s very cool.  I gave it a whirl, uploading photos off my computer from Tech Cocktail’s #StartupLife Celebration at SXSW.  After 15 minutes, the photos are still loading, so hopefully that just means that Slide.ly is being overwhelmed with users right now.

Despite my failed attempt to use it, this is undoubtedly a very cool marketing tool, naturally allowing a high level of engagement and creativity.  You can create slideshows using photos taken at company and industry events, around the office, of new products, at clients’ offices – really, the opportunities are endless.  Sharing the slideshows is super easy, as social media is built into its DNA.

Tom More, CEO of EasyHi, the company that developed Slide.ly, said that brands, hotels, reality show participants and a few other products use Slidely so far.  “The growth in users has been really cool. We doubled users to over 20k in less than a week and the rapid rise and large percent of creators is awesome.”
