Startup Weekend, a nonprofit and host of entrepreneurial educational events, recently announced that they will soon be opening offices internationally. The first international offices to open will be in London and Mexico City, and they have their sights on India, China, and Brazil in the near future. The 20-person team is on pace for more than 300 international events this year.
“The most important thing we could be doing for society, our economies, and the world right now is helping more people become successful entrepreneurs,” says CEO Marc Nager. “We’ve had demand for more than 2,000 events this year in over 100 different countries. Regional operations will allow us to scale faster and continue to feed a fundamental shift in communities that are trying to create more vibrant startup ecosystems.”
Startup Weekend has played a part in the creation of many companies, including Zaarly, Eventup, LaunchRock, and Look.io.
Earlier this year, Tech Cocktail partnered with the Seattle-based event organizer for MEGA Startup Weekend, the nonprofit’s largest annual event, which awards winners in 3 separate tracks: mobile, robotics, and gaming. Whiskey Bot stole the show.
