The New Art of Launching with Tony Conrad of About.me

The way to launch a new startup, product or company has changed a lot in the last decade. Just five years ago the blogosphere was the best way to plant the seeds to launch your startup. But what was once just a blogosphere of voices has morphed into a social media empowered age where everyone is armed with their mobile phone and a voice. Some voices are more well followed than others so it is now possible to launch your product successfully by getting individuals behind you.

No one knows this better than Tony Conrad, a seasoned entrepreneur who has launched and sold a number of companies on his own, but also wears the hat of a founding partner in True Ventures, the venture capitalist firm behind such products as Automattic (WordPress), Appssavvy, StockTwits, GDGT, KISSmetrics, 20×200, WeGame, RescueTime, Voxpop and many more.

Tony’s latest startup is called About.me and it offers a new profile aggregation product. The product offers an easy way to pull all the information from various social networking products out there together to build a single, online identity to make a professional looking personal landing page. About.me launched in September and quickly gained traction backed by investors such as True Ventures, Radar Partners, Freestyle Capital, Scott Kurnit, AOL Ventures, David Mahoney, Founder Collective and Ron Conway. It also has the early adoption and social proof support of Chris Sacca, Veronica Belmont, Dick Costolo, Om Malik, Lindsay Campbell, Tim Ferriss, Peter Rojas, Catherine Valdes, Tim Roberts, Hiten Shah, Howard Lindzon, Julia Allison, Jeff Veen, Andy Weissman and James Joaquin. You can check out my profile here. Also it’s worth noting that just yesterday About.me was endorsed by Predrag Lesic, Executive Director of the .ME Registry.

CEO and Founder Tony Conrad was a keynote speaker at the Tech Cocktail Startup Mixology Conference in October and we are pleased to share his session in the video below.
