It seems that iOS users get all the good upgrades first: Zappos has just announced the release of an updated iPhone app that features a new credit card scan feature. The crux of the new feature is that users can skip entering their credit card number when it comes to checking out on their cramped, 4.5 inch screen (even if it’s in HD, it can still be annoying).
PandoDaily broke the story first:
“We’re always trying to innovate and make the process easier for consumers,” says Aki Iida in PandoDaily’s post. “On the small keyboards of smartphones it’s especially important that we make checkout as easy as possible. This is one way we can do that. It’s even more important than on a tablet, which is why we began with our iPhone app.”
This is the first in a series of steps Zappos is taking to put more of their flair into the mobile shopping platforms – similar to the character that CEO Tony Hsieh has helped bring to Downtown Las Vegas. To help them in this process, Zappos will be turning to parent company Amazon as they push forward.
Assuredly, Android and iPad will be seeing a similar update not far in the future.
