For the majority of my life I’ve been an inefficient and unorganized mess. I’ve somehow managed to get by, but I’m highly distracted, lose things, make mental notes of tasks that I swear I’ll remember and then promptly forget, and my to-do list is often barren (not because I have nothing to put on it, but because my attention has often moved on to the next thing drawn to something shiny before I get a chance to write anything down). My phone has become a lifesaver as far as organization. It’s my swiss army knife for all things productivity-related. I’m still far from perfect, but I’ve learned to rely on apps for things that I used to leave to my memory (worst idea ever), scraps of paper, or friends and co-workers (as in, they’re way more organized than me, I’ll assume they’re on top of this).
Because of my strive to be a more efficient individual and employee, I’m always on the lookout for new apps to help me make that happen. The Muse recently posted an infographic of 20 apps that can help boost your personal and professional productivity. I’m sure most of you are familiar with Evernote, and some of you likely use Flow or Google Now for task management or collaboration (here at Tech Cocktail we’re fans of Asana), but some of them are less well-known but just as useful. It lists apps for everything from organizing email, to preventing procrastination, to keeping track of expenses.
