The Mid-Atlantic Venture Association (MAVA) announced today 20 startups from the Mid-Atlantic region will be presenting at this year’s TechBUZZ Georgetown event. The companies come from various startup communities across Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C. Each company will be given the opportunity to pitch their ideas to an audience of investors, tech executives, and entrepreneurs. TechBUZZ Georgetown will take place on Friday, September 19th at the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University.

Launched in 2011, MAVA’s TechBUZZ event gives seed- and early-stage companies an opportunity to share their projects and connect with investors and other entrepreneurs. Since that time, 167 presenting startups at TechBUZZ have received in total more than $162 million in disclosed funding (not including the investments and acquisitions with undisclosed terms). Some of the startups chosen to present at the event include those previously covered on Tech Cocktail, such as Framebridge, GovTribe, and StayAtHand.

“A stunning 47% of all presenting companies through year-end 2013 have reported financings to date, which speaks directly to the market interest and level of quality of these young enterprises,” said Julia Spicer, Executive Director, MAVA and founder of TechBUZZ, in a statement. “Equally valuable is the support provided by our strong community of peers and collaborators in attendance. This bodes well for those who will take the stage at TechBUZZ Georgetown.”
