I don’t care if your child is reading it, or if you are secretly a fan of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series. The series contains lessons on leadership and life that you can take directly to your startup.
The wise old Albus Dumbledore, Headmaster at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizandry, somehow has all the right words to say.
1. On Being a Leader
“Those who have leadership thrust upon them, and take up the mantle because they must, and find to their own surprise that they wear it well.”
“It is our choices…that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”
“It is a curious thing but perhaps those who are best suited to power are those who have never sought it.”
“It is important to fight and fight again, and keep fighting, for only then can evil be kept at bay, though never quite eradicated.”
“We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided.”
3. On making difficult decisions
“Dark times lie ahead of us and there will be a time when we must choose between what is easy and what is right.”
“It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.”
“After all to the well organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.”
“It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.”
