Why Appointment Reminders Are A Great Idea

If you run a small, service-based business you will agree that one of the major money-losers is no-shows for appointments. You have most probably wondered why people cannot just show up for the appointments that they have made. After all, you did give them an appointment message which clearly stated the date and time of the appointment.

Puzzling, isn’t it? Well, not really. With life as crazy as it is in the 21st century it is not surprising that people are forgetting things. In order for people to show up for appointments (or to cancel them in a timely manner), they need to be reminded to do so. In times gone by, a way to do this was to phone them by sifting through the messy appointment book. This was not efficient, as people are notorious for not picking up their phones or not listening to their voicemails, so we were back at square one. Luckily, we can now make use of online booking systems, such as TimelyVisit.com, which enables us to send out text and/or email reminders to clients, a far more effective way of reaching customers.

When starting a small business, every single customer is important and you cannot afford to lose even one. When you lose one customer, you actually lose three as you lose a customer who didn’t show up, a customer who would have showed up, and, a customer who could potentially have been a returning customer.

Recent research shows that appointment reminders reduce the occurrence of no-shows by a whopping 30%! Simply by installing an online booking system and then automating appointment reminders (which will literally take less than 10 seconds!) can save you hundreds, if not thousands of dollars in the long run.

If you have a hair salon, for example, and charge, on average $40 for a half hour appointment and have on average 2 no-shows per day, you could be losing close on $2300 per month! How crazy is that?

For small business startups, every cent counts. By using an online booking system, you will see your efficiency improve as well as your cash flow.
