Aquaskipper Introduces a Whole New Water Sport

I have to be perfectly honest: I do not know what to make of the Aquaskipper.  Interesting, yes.  Dorky, kind of (to me, this is the water version of a Segway).  An entirely new water sport, definitely.  A good workout, well, this is what Iron Man champion Ky Hurst has to say about it:

I definitively think they are going to be the next big thing in water sports.  When I tried it out they couldn’t get me off it for hours. It’s great fun and really good work-out.

The AquaSkipper is a one-of-a kind, lightweight, human-powered personal watercraft that allows you to glide on the water…while hopping like a kangaroo…to propel the hydrofoil forward by flapping the underwater wings.  It weighs 26.5 lbs, takes around 10 minutes to assemble and disassemble, and can go up to 16.7 mph (I am calculating from kmh, hence the exact speed!).

It can only be started out of the water, like from a dock, boat, or beach. If you get tired and stop hopping, you’ll end up in the water.  And yes, you can ride on waves with it, though, with 2 brothers who are avid surfers and regularly get frustrated by poor etiquette from non-locals, I can pretty much guarantee that you will get razzed by surfers for doing that.

Check out this video to see it in action:

You can buy Aquaskipper from Amazon for $494.95.
