With all the social media profiles and services out there, online reputation has become a hot topic. Products like Unvarnished (now Honestly.com) raised a stir as people were rated by anonymous users on the Web. Products like Blippr have also emerged to enable users to socially share ratings on apps, books, movies, and music. Taking that concept a step further and in a slightly different direction, DC-based Awesomize.me recently launched to help navigate the social media landscape by helping users aggregate their profiles and then allowing the public to rate them. Think of it as Yelp for people, companies, products and services. Each rating is also viral as it is automatically shared to Facebook (if you have connected you Facebook profile to your account).
Awesomize.me creates a profile which displays the collective feedback about people, companies, products and services as it looks to act as a personal and corporate reputation management platform. Part of the product’s mission is to help distinguish the best people and customers to connect with online across the various social networks. There are already 300 companies utilizing awesomize.me including many larger organizations like Sprint, Qwest, Huffington Post, Ascom, HP, and just today Dell.
Awesomize.me was founded by Elias Shams a longtime telecom and internet entrepreneur. Elias has been with a couple different funded startups which included Searchles and Telezoo. Awesomize.me will be on hand as a showcased startup at the winter DC Tech Cocktail mixer event. Also be sure to check out Tech Cocktail here on Awesomize.me.
