Our search for the best startups in the nation made a stop in Philadelphia to kick off Philly Tech Week last night, where 12 startups gathered to pitch, demo, and network among the community. This year, the Tech Cocktail Startup competition will be taking on a bold new look, so stay tuned as we announce what to expect at this year’s Celebrate Conference! One thing is for sure: These two winning startups have qualified to be in Las Vegas for our big event. And now, the Hottest Startups in Philadelphia are:
Philadelphia’s Hottest Startup – Reader’s Choice
ROAR for Good is developing self-defense wearable technology that diminishes attacks against women and address the underlying sources of violence. According to Milady Nazir, who shared her recap of the event on LinkedIn, the device “primarily works as a deterrent by activating lights then it notifies friends and the police. Roar products will retail at $99 and part of the proceeds will fund nonprofits that teach empathy and consent towards women.”
Philadelphia’s Hottest Startup – Best Pitch
Bestimators provides the easiest way to allow contractors to compete to provide home improvement projects for consumers. Bestimators allows a homeowner to schedule just one site visit to collect the scope of work, and then they go through the process of collecting bids for you. We’re thankful to Milady Nazir who also gathered a statement from Bestimators’ Matt Fineberg regarding his win at this event and his intentions to represent in Las Vegas later this year: “It’s a burden to do a great job in Vegas. If there’s a win, I want to make sure I bring it back to the Philly Startup scene.”
We look forward to meeting both of these startups in Las Vegas, and we invite the national startup community to attend the conference in October as we gather all of our regional winners for one final competition!
