And here’s what BetterDoctor looks like:
My insurance has over 46,000 doctors to choose from in the San Francisco area, of varying quality. “Overall it’s just a very messed up, complex system,” says BetterDoctor cofounder and CEO Ari Tulla. BetterDoctor sorts out the doctors who don’t have a malpractice screening, an active medical license, or good Yelp reviews, leaving a short list to choose from.
BetterDoctor spent a year and a half compiling information from a variety of government sources, physician websites, and malpractice records. Their goal is to instantly give you all the information you would find after four hours of Internet research about a doctor. On top of that, doctors will be invited to add their availability and update their contact info, similar to ZocDoc.
The startup, which is funded by a group of doctors and angel investors, launched in September in San Francisco. They will roll out nationwide by next month.
