This weekend a new Twitter bot emerged that automatically formats President Trump’s tweets into an official White House statement format. The one part novelty account and one part political statement, @RealPressSecBot, comes at a time when the president continues to wage a battle against traditional media (or mainstream media), and typically relies on Twitter to speak directly to the world. While tweets are not considered an official White House statement, they do provide direct insight from the president. In response, the Twitter bot takes Trump’s tweets and formats them into official looking White House releases.

President Trump’s tweets often highlight a disparity between his administration and those that came before it, and in some cases contradicted that of official White House statements, what is mentioned in the press briefings with White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer, and as early as this morning his own lawyers working to reinstate his travel ban.

The inspiration for the bot comes from President Obama’s former Senior Writer and Deputy Director of Messaging, who was part of his press team. St. Louis based coder Russel Neiss obliged and developed the bot, which has already amassed 50,000 followers at the time of writing.
