Bringing 4G To New York City – An Inside Look

We’ve been honored to have Sprint as a Tech Cocktail mixer event sponsor for the past few months, including DC, Austin, Chicago and next up, New York. The Sprint teams in each city have been great to work with, spending time with people at mixers talking about local 4G coverage, new devices, and giving away phones and t-shirts.

The Tech Cocktail team has been following the Sprint 4G coverage since CES 2010 and actually travels with the Sprint Overdrive 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot by Sierra Wireless, which allows multiple people to work off the same connection, so we know first hand important and exciting it is when we do find great 4G coverage! But think about a city such as New York… how does such a dense, tall and expansive area get covered?

Sprint has created a few videos to help explain how they’re covering NYC. For anyone who’s never actually seen how they wire a city for coverage, it’s pretty interesting stuff. Check them out.
