Has Brooklyness Developed the Smartest Smart Bike Ever?

This is not your typical collapsable bike. This is a lightweight, electric, collapsable bike with bluetooth connectivity that can detect traffic patterns, hazards, and even help you find the next train home.

Brooklyn based Brooklyness (yep), has recently launched an Indiegogo campaign with a goal of $30,000 (which they've already surpassed–at last check they were at just over $38,000) to fund production of their newest model of electric bike, the CMYK 4.0.

They are trying to change the way that city dwellers commute. Those who aren't keen on the idea of riding a traditional bike to work, now have a safer, efficient, and more cost effective option. First of all, the CMYK 4.0 is easier to ride than a regular bike because of a small 250-watt motor that lets you travel at a faster speed with less physical exertion. Second, the app that your bike is connected to provides a million functions, everything from warning you of traffic congestion, to remotely locking your bike.

“Millions of Americans commute less than 10 miles each day, but getting from home to work is usually inefficient. We can do better,” said Manuel Saez, the CEO of Brooklyness in a statement “The CMYK 4.0 is the next evolution of electric commuter bikes, and its sensors and smart technology help you bypass traffic jams, beat up streets, and detours so you have an easier, faster trip to and from work. Commuting doesn’t have to be a challenge, and the CMYK 4.0 helps you respond to the flow of the city faster than other drivers, pedestrians, and single-speed riders.”

The team at Brooklyness has spent over five years perfecting this bike. There were three previous versions that were improved upon based on customer feedback. Version 4.0 weighs in at 26lbs, has a rechargable battery that will last for up to 30 miles of ride time, and comes in a variety of colors.

For $599 + shipping and handling (62% of MSRP of $1600) you can get yours before the product goes to market (they're estimated to start shipping in March 2016). Now all you need is a smart helmet to pair with it, and you'll be good to go.
