In the past, business cards were the go-to marketing method when it came to getting the word out about your business. Before the inception of the internet, businesses were all bricks-and-mortar stores, making it more than necessary. Even during the early days of the internet, the option to purchase goods and services online would have seemed like a far-fetched, futuristic idea to many people.

However, today it has become the norm, and as a result, digital marketing has taken over the old, traditional methods of marketing used. But, many companies still use business cards today, as a way of sharing their details with potential and existing customers. So are business cards worth using for your online business?

Encourage Word of Mouth Marketing

Today, word of mouth marketing, where happy customers tell their friends about the great service and excellent products that they have received from a company, is still one of the best ways of spreading the word. Although word of mouth marketing has become easier than ever thanks to social media and online reviews, don’t forget that many customers will also talk positively about your company to their friends and family members in person.

Handing a bunch of business cards to your happy customers can come in very handy here, since they’ll be able to pass them on to anybody who’s expressed an interest in learning more about your online business.

Create Novelty

Although old-fashioned methods of marketing such as business cards have been around for much longer than the internet has, they have become somewhat of a novelty in recent years. You may be wondering why it’s worth the effort and cost to print business cards, when you can simply share your contact information via email, social media or even Bluetooth.

However, these digital methods of sharing information have become so mainstream, that they’re easy to forget. When you send an email to somebody sharing your details, there’s a high chance that it’ll quickly become lost in their inbox, especially with the sheer amount of spam mail that many people receive these days. On the other hand, passing on an innovative, attractively designed business card isn’t so mainstream anymore. Because it’s different, it’s more likely to be remembered!

Increase Online Traffic

When you run an online-only business, one of the main aims is to be constantly increasing organic traffic to your website. Business cards that clearly state your website address can help you achieve this goal, as it will be easier for interested potential customers to find and remember your web address.

With so many businesses today going online, it’s no surprise that regular people can often have a hard time remembering all the different websites that they plan to visit. Make sure that your business cards provide details of your web address, email and other online presences, such as social media profiles, to make it easier for the recipient to find out more.
