While there are few out there who have given up on wearable technology, many still believe that wearable tech will be an essential part of our everyday lives in the near future. Sure, Google has halted its Google Glass Explorers program and the Apple Watch may not have lived up to everyone’s expectations, but that doesn’t mean that there’s no hope for wearable technology in upcoming years. Indeed, we must keep in mind that this active interest and venture in wearable technology is only a recent trend, so we’re still very much in the early phases of development. But as interest continues to pick up, we’re going to see more demand for specific roles (specifically: seven key careers) to help develop wearable technology.
A recent infographic created by NeoName Studios and produced by Adecco looked at the various ways through which wearable technology is impacting our lives today, as well as how they can play a part in our futures. From things as simple as improving productivity and enabling better relationships with customers, to more complicated uses such as targeting cancer cells and solving problems in food insecurity, the infographic aims to highlight the different careers through which people can help to develop the wearable technology empowering these solutions.
The infographic cites a recent Accenture survey that found that 86 percent of business leaders believe that wearable technology will become a net creator of jobs in the future. In another Accenture survey conducted earlier this year, 21 percent of those 24,000 people surveyed believed that wearables are still too complicated to use. With both sets of data in mind, there’s a lot of room for improvement in the wearable tech space – improvement that can only come once more people find themselves in the roles essential to developing that technology.
