With all the talk about location based services like Brightkite, Foursquare and Gowalla among others it was only a matter of time till someone tried to help consolidate them all into one simple check-in application. Check.in which launched into beta today is looking to do just that by offering a mobile web application that allows users to check in aggregate all your location based accounts (right now Brightkite, Foursquare and Gowalla) and then checkin to them all simultaneously. We recently covered SimpleGeo who pulled together Vicarious.ly, a sample application mapping all the various checkin data which was the first app of its kind. Check.in is the first application I have seen that allows users to check in across multiple services at once. Check.in is pretty simple to use once you get passed the initial setup which includes remembering your passwords to your various location based accounts.
The product was developed by Brightkite, a Boulder-based startup that was one of the pioneers in the location based application space. I am excited about Check.in as I was just saying the other day that someone needed to create a service just like it. Brightkite beat everyone else to market. The only thing in question is how the application is able to check in to Gowalla since they do not have a public API yet, so it must be a hack. Regardless, I look forward to the Android and iPhone applications too as the mobile web applications just are not as easy to use.
Check out some screen-shots from the web application (above) and sign up for the beta here and check in to your hearts delight.
