Help Your Child Learn with These On-Demand Tutoring Apps

Education is important to every child’s development. As a parent, you want to find the best ways to learn for your little ones. And if they need some additional help with a particular subject, or just a more individualized learning experience, your smartphone could be a helpful tool.

Passion for Learning with Tutree

Thanks to the development of edtech in recent years, parents are able to order a qualified tutor in the local community with the click of a button. Tutree is an on-demand tutoring service that was launched because  founder and CEO Pranay Nath had a passion for education and a love for teaching.

The majority of tutors are graduate students, with some teachers and a few exceptions of high school students with AP credit, to teach kids that need help in certain subjects.

The service offers a wide range of skill sets like computer, geometry, Spanish, SAT and English speaking tutoring for overseas students. For a parent’s peace of mind, tutors are background checked and screened through the National Sex Offender Registry, among other resources.

The company has grown exponentially and is completely self-funded. To date they have 12-13k tutors representing over 1000 US universities, served 5000 students to date, and expanded to 18 cities.

“We believe there is a genius in every zip code and Tutree enables leveraging this talent in every community at a touch of a button,” Nath said. “Education in US has its problems and we believe leveraging the talent within communities will solve this problem one student at a time and will create economic opportunities for numerous smart students.”

Helping Students Succeed with Everly

In Los Angeles, two brothers, Michael and Mark Berookim, grew up without the opportunity to access private tutors and were driven by a passion to help students succeed. Together they launched Everly, with the goal of getting a tutor to a student in under an hour.

“We wanted to direct our attention to meet the needs of public school students, who do not have access to private academic assistance, we are passionately dedicated to improving the academic experience and potential for success for all students,” said Michael.

Tutors come from a variety of backgrounds, including certified teachers, industry professionals, undergraduate, and graduate students with experience in tutoring or teaching skills. Everly takes on the burden of screening each tutor through resourcing multiple layers of criminal and background checks and verifying their identity.

“Everyone needs a tutor at some point,” said Mark. “And with Everly’s simplified process, we can get qualified tutors to kids nationally, and ultimately, internationally. Our tech-enabled platform cuts most administrative costs, which allows for significant higher pay that tutors deserve. This translates to more qualified tutors and improved academic results!”
