Traveling is one of those activities that people love. Whether it’s a short trip for the holidays or a life-changing adventure across the globe, having a safe and comfortable place to stay is always at the top of the priority list. Airbnb has changed the way people view accommodations and made a significant impact in the sharing economy. While the company faces various speed bumps with legislative bodies, the company announced their strive towards fighting discrimination and building inclusion in a recent blog post.
“At the heart of our mission is the idea that people are fundamentally good and every community is a place where you can belong,” said Brian Chesky, cofounder and CEO of Airbnb in the post.
Chris Lehane, head of global policy and public affairs at Airbnb, is at the forefront of these missions and we are excited to announce that he will be speaking on millennial travel at Innovate! and Celebrate next week.
Lehane leads the home-sharing company’s work with policy makers around the world to support common sense approaches that protect the right of everyday people to share their homes in order to help make ends meet. In addition, he oversees the company’s efforts to educate the public about the community wide economic benefits created by home sharing and directs initiatives to communicate how the platform helps democratize travel by allowing anyone to belong anywhere.
“I am committed to playing to win when it comes to standing up and fighting for the rights of everyday people to share their homes,” Lehane said in an interview with The New York Times.
Prior to joining Airbnb, Lehane focused his efforts on the political landscape. As a primary player in the Clinton administration, including press secretary to Vice President Al Gore and special assistant counsel to President Bill Clinton, he has provided strategic counsel to some of the world’s most powerful people. With his political savvy and bevy of experience, Lehane has help shape the face of the sharing economy.
