There is no question that creating a city where collisions happen is imperative for a sustainable ecosystem. However, it requires time and strong will to build cities that encourages collaborations. Dylan Jorgensen led the conversation during Tech Cocktail Celebrate Conference about the hurdles that must be overcome to create a startup hub where collisions happen.

“Once people get to a place that they understand there isn’t a right or wrong, there’s just different, they could see how ideas can be complimentary, then you can get into a place where there isn’t judgement to someone’s ideas but acceptance that they are different,” said Sara Hill, director of entrepreneurship at Las Vegas’s Work in Progress.

A lot has to do with bringing together different leaders who need to be involved in collaborating to build a startup ecosystem.

“Just lead by example,” says  Trey Bowles, founder of the Dallas Entrepreneur Center. “We decided to submit our ego to the betterment of the community. Demonstrating that collaboration is better than competition, especially when your talking about entrepreneurial support organization.”
