There are so many decisions that need to be made when starting a company, specifically when it comes to how you want to build your brand. And of course when it comes to building your brand, it’s critical that you have the perfect logo. It’s the first thing that your potential customers will see. And assuming your potential customers are human, your logo will elicit a certain feeling almost immediately. Your logo will be judged, even if it’s happening subconsciously.

We recently shared an analysis by Udemy, where they dissected the key attributes of successful logos. One thing they discovered is that color matters. Of the fifty successful company logos they looked at, half of them used red or blue as the dominant color. Blue is known to evoke feelings of calmness, security, and trust, while red evokes passion, excitement, or even hunger (see: McDonalds).

Colors are emotional, not logical, so the color(s) you choose for your logo can be just as, if not more important than any other decision your make–no pressure or anything. But what if you can’t decide on a color? Don’t worry too much about it because having multiple colors in your logo (think Google) inspires boldness and positivity.

Of course color isn’t the only factor you need to consider when it comes to your logo; shape, font, and spacing make a difference too. So if you’re in the process of designing a logo and are finding yourself in a state of analysis paralysis, the folks at Colourfast have put together this helpful–and colorful–infographic.
