Fortify Ventures, also known as “The Fort,” today announced that it will be shutting down its accelerator program.

The DC-based program has funded companies since 2011, including Social TablesVenga, RidePost, TrendPo, and others.

“We believe in the process of accelerating startups and Fortify has enjoyed running 17 companies through our program over the past couple of years,” the company stated in a blog post today.

Even though it is closing down its physical space, The Fort, Fortify will continue to operate as a VC fund. According to the company’s blog:

“As we grow our venture fund, we plan to support the efforts of a far greater pool of accelerators and their portfolio companies. We are honored to have founded and operated The Fort in DC, and grateful to everyone that supported our efforts, especially the DC Government for providing a grant to bring The Fort to ‘The District.’”
