Digital Capital Week (DCWEEK), a 10 day festival focused on technology, innovation and creativity in the nations capital is coming up June 11th through 20th and we are excited to share a look at some of the happenings. This festival is modeled after others like Fringe Festival, Internet Week New York and Social Media Week and is complete with sessions, panels and parties, with one key addition: community projects driven by small groups to help improve the DC area. Who will be there? Currently there are 3200+ people attending with roughly 85 percent from Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia. But hundreds also coming from across the country and the globe including Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe.

Here’s our rundown of some events you won’t want to miss:
Friday, June 11th – The DCWEEK Opening Party – RSVP HERE
The DCWEEK festival will kick-off with an opening party experience like no other. Taking place in an art gallery and back alley in DC there will be:
- DJs and musicians of all kinds
- Breakdancers, live video mixing, robots and live art happenings
- Drinks (each guest will have a free drink courtesy of Palantir)
- A VIP Speakeasy w/ open bar by invite only
Saturday June 12th & Sunday June 13th – CityCamp DC – RSVP HERE
CityCampDC is an unconference (a facilitated, participant-driven conference centered on a theme or purpose) dedicated to bringing people together who are passionate about building a better District of Columbia. Limited to just 300 attendees this weekend gathering aims to bring together local government officials, civic organizations, social entrepreneurs, technologists, and creatives to share perspectives, insights and ideas and then establish plans of action for individuals and organizations to carry forth post-camp.
Tuesday, June 15th – Media 2.0 Day – RSVP HERE
This half-day agenda focuses on everything related to the future of the media landscape and serves as an opportunity for members of the media and those passionate about its future to connect and learn.
The event is hosted by USA Today and will take place at National Geographic. This is sure to fill up fast!
Tuesday, June 15th – Sweets and Tweets – RSVP HERE
This monthly speakers series hosted by Debbie Weil will offer a special DCWEEK panel to celebrate some of the D.C. members of Fast Company‘s 2010 Most Influential Women in Technology. Enjoy a cupcake and an evening of conversation – don’t forget to tweet!
Tuesday, June 15th – Digital Schmooze Cruise – RSVP HERE
Take a cruise down the Georgetown waterfront and connect with a mix of people, scenery, and more for 2 hours on the Potomac River.
Wednesday, June 16th – Gov and Org 2.0 – RSVP HERE
Gov & Org 2.0 Day is focusing on issues and opportunities related to governments and non-profits. This event looks to bring together government officials, civic organizations, social entrepreneurs, technologists, and creatives to share perspectives, insights and ideas and deliver compelling content related to Government and Non-Profit 2.0 efforts. The hope is to strengthen the Gov 2.0 and Org 2.0 practitioner community.
Wednesday, June 16th – Ignite DC – RSVP HERE
If you had five minutes on stage, what would you say to Washington, DC? What if you only had 20 slides and they rotated automatically every 15 seconds? Head to Ignite DC and find out what it is all about.
Thursday, June 17th – 140conf DC – RSVP HERE
Jeff Pulver will be in Washington, D.C. to host a D.C. 140conf. Since the launch of the #140conf events, conferences have taken place in: New York City, Los Angeles, London and Tel Aviv. These events have explored the effects of Twitter on a wide range of topics including: Celebrity, “The Media”, Advertising, Politics, Fashion, Real Estate, Music, Education, Public Safety and Public Diplomacy. Thursday, June 17th – TECH cocktail DC – RSVP HERE
Hosting our ninth startup and entrepreneurial mixer event in Washington, D.C. during DCWEEK, we’ll showcase a number of local startups as we work to better connect, educate and amplify the DC area technology community. We also look to connect startups and entrepreneurs seeking seed funding with local angels or seed investors. And of course, we plan to have a little fun as we have secured the entire Lux Lounge with three floors of space for a huge cocktail event to cap off a great day at the 140conf DC.
Friday June 18th & Saturday June 19th – Digital Garage – RSVP HERE
The DCWEEK Digital Garage is a two day conference within the festival that focuses on the following:

Friday, June 18th – Show, Tell, Hire – RSVP HERE
Show, Tell, HIRE! is not your average job fair. This MC’d, interactive event will have companies and job seekers standing on-stage, pitching themselves to the audience and each other, ending with a cocktail hour for more casual conversations and follow-ups. Whether you’re looking to hire or looking for a job or collaborators, you’ve got the spotlight – use it well!

Our closing party will take place at the 9:30 Club from 10PM to 3AM on Saturday June 19th. Digital Capital Week is offering YOU the opportunity to support and promote DC’s local music and arts scene by crowdsourcing for bands and DJ’s to play at the event: SUBMIT & VOTE ON YOUR FAVORITE LOCAL MUSICIANS HERE. It should be a great night at the 9:30 club in DC.
Sunday June 20th – Flash Mob Picnic on the Mall – RSVP HERE
Since it is Father’s Day and we have lots of “digital dads” out there, what better way to take advantage of the potentially beautiful weather in a family friendly environment than a “flash picnic” for everyone to attend. Use the hashtag #DCWEEK and #PICNIC at the same time to coordinate with friends on Twitter. Be there at 1pm with food, blankets, games, music and picnic baskets – we are hoping for guest appearances by Yogi and Boo Boo.
