There’s one thing that every single person who goes to SXSW has in common: they’re looking to connect, network, and meet new people. We physically bump into others, and in some cases we even connect through social media channels: Twitter is a proverbial gold mine for making these connections both in person and abroad.
On March 15, from 3 until 5 we’ll be hosting a happy hour at Maggie Mae’s Irish Bar, sponsored by Desk.com. Together we’ll quite literally turn Twitter into a pot of gold with our #getluckywithdesk hashtag.
The great thing about hashtags is that people who are sharing a moment or thousands of miles away from it can communicate together by using a singular hashtag. We hope that you’ll join the conversation with @Desk by using the #getluckywithdesk tag, and we’ll get into the spirit of the Irish together. Desk.com will be giving away a $500 Amex card to one lucky attendee.
Back in 2011 Desk.com, which was then known as Assistly, was acquired by and integrated into Salesforce to provide an unparalleled customer experience that scales with your company as you grow it. Or, to put it another way, Desk.com helps better connect people at work, both inside and outside of the office.
So, what does Desk.com’s philosophy on user engagement have in common with SXSW, you might ask? We got our hands on an infographic, courtesy of Fleishman Hillard and Geofeedia that might help illustrate the point.
At #SXSW 2014 there were 2,136,236 total mentions of SXSW with 73,290 Instagram photos shared on Twitter, but perhaps the most interesting stat is that of the 540,000 tweets that included “#SXSW”, only 10 percent of them originated in Austin.
Just as the #SXSW hashtag connects people that are in Austin and outside of it, so too does our #getluckywithdesk hashtag accomplish the same. It’s amazing, the power inherent in a string of letters and symbols, and now it’s your turn to connect back with Desk.com outside of work, party down, and #getluckywithdesk. Tweet your luckiest moment ever mentioning @Desk and using #getluckywithdesk to win up to $500!
