With the launch of the Apple Tablet and Amazon Kindle app store, there is going to be a lot going on in the tablet application development space. Eduk8, a Chicago-based start-up, founded by Nicholas Paredes and Peter Adams looks be right at the cutting edge when these products launch with a platform for learning. Both founders have experience working in the education technology space. Nicholas is a designer who has developed educational content for all of the major publishers. Peter has worked for Teach for America.

Eduk8 provides an open platform for educational publishers and content creators to distribute products and services in the k-8 environment on tablet and eBook devices with social aspects. Similar to the Copia social reading platform, that I saw earlier this month at the Consumer Electronic Show, Eduk8 will be prototyping a range of products for introduction just days before, in time for Apple’s iTablet announcement. A multi-billion dollar industry is in need of a revolution in product creation and distribution.

Eduk8 will be demoing at the first MOBILE cocktail Chicago mixer event later this week. We are definitely looking forward to seeing eduk8 in action on a tablet device soon.
