Behind every entrepreneur is a great story. This is the idea behind a new Chicago event which puts the spotlight on the city’s successful entrepreneurs. With some familiar faces from the Tech Cocktail Startup Mixology conference last October, the Entrepreneurs Unpluggd event will feature the founders of SitterCity, GrubHub, CrowdSPRING, and Foiled Cupcakes will be sharing their customer acquisition secrets in the inaugural event on February 8th in Chicago, Illinois.
Entrepreneurs Unpluggd is put on by myself and Tim Jahn, both young entrepreneurs who wanted to not only learn from seasoned pros, but hear actionable takeaways that we could apply to our own ventures. “Too often, we go to conferences and hear broad speeches that are interesting, but altogether not applicable to our own projects,” said Tim. “This event will be focused on kernels of wisdom successful entrepreneurs can share and we can turn around and apply immediately.”
The inspiration between Entrepreneurs Unpluggd was TV shows in the 90s where musicians would not only play their hits, but talk about the meaning behind them (think VH1 Storytellers). The audience would hear the raw music and would also feel a connection with those seemingly distant musicians. In the same way, we wanted to foster a feeling of intimacy and connection with entrepreneurs whose success may seem daunting, but who are ultimately very down to earth people.
Entrepreneurs Unpluggd will be held February 8th at the Greenhouse Theater in Lincoln Park. Tickets are on sale now.
